Do you still have that T-Shirt?! I remember it well. And I think putting yourself out there and being open to things - especially if there might be awkwardness to them - allows us to really get better at performing and probably life. Also it’s an attitude that provides a lot of source material for Substacks.
Sadly no I do not have the T-shirt – not that I’d be prepared to open myself up to ridicule by wearing it if I did. And you’re right of course. The fear of looking like a fool or having something judge me as harshly as I judge myself are often the things that stop me trying
A true compliment coming from a rock chick of your calibre. 🥰 I don’t think I ever did bust moves quite the way I do now – maybe by the final year at university.
Omg love all this! Also guilty of perfectionist tendencies but my therapist is all about “done is better than perfect” and basically just doing the thing! So I’ve been following that. All of this is very wise advise and you’re such a beauty. 🤩🥰🔥 Yay for 12k into the novel. Can’t wait!
But also, let’s get real: you’ve written THREE whole books and part of a fourth so you’re smashing it. 😘🫶🏻🤩🥳 And your books are so so good and hilarious. All wins in my book!

This is so good!
And it turns out I’m only OK at learning to be OK with being OK, but that’s OK.
This is the way, like. A hundred times yes – it is all OK. I might borrow this as a mantra.
Thanks Paul! Maybe we should start chanting “I’m ok” at ourselves in the mirror every morning.
You actually look like a rock star in these pics! I hope you showed off your epic dance skills too!

haha well keep on rocking!!
Perfectionism is the enemy of art. I have suffered at the hands of perfectionist collaborators, so I know that's true.
I completely agree. Although I’m never really sure I am a perfectionist. I’m more a wimp who won’t expose herself to the vulnerability of trying

Your therapist is spot on.
